Best wishes Shelly. Hopefully hubby has a good response to iv antibiotics and avoids surgery. I agree that the immunity suppression for the infection may have helped the shingles, and these have covered some of the intestinal symptoms. Anyway, no peritonitis, no perforations... we're still doing great. Good luck and have some rest yourself madam :D

Here's some more get well wishes. I'm sure that your husband will do well. How can he not with you taking care of him.

Diverticulitis is no fun (today is understatement day). I remember well having to deal with the clear liquid diet for a couple of weeks. And not the fun kinds of clear liquids.

I think he would be happy at this point if he was allowed to drink water.

Yeah, I can imagine. I was allowed ice chips for several days. No fun. Is he getting pain meds? I remember that was a tricky situation, too, because the pain meds can mask certain symptoms and create other gut issues. They relented and gave me morphine, though. That helped.

Best wishes to your hubby's recoup Shelly. And yours as well, as I'm sure this has been most taxing on you!

Dinny, he is getting morphine but mostly for the shingles pain. I wasn't aware of this (that the pain meds could mask other symptoms and create other gut issues).

The pain meds can put the gut to sleep in a sense, and could mask worsening symptoms. It can also lock up his bladder so he can't pee (been there done that).

Started riding my bike to work again yesterday and today. It's a beautiful thing ...

it feels like Spring is really here now.

Took the day off to stay home with my daughter who has double ear infection (again). At least the antibiotic seems to be working and she appears to be in generally good mood.

Poor wee thing, best wishes to her :)

I've just accepted and sent my yearly taxes declaration. They should return me 1600+ euros  This is a good chunk of the 009s cost. Eventually

Best wishes on ear aches, Salty - very yucky. Hopefully it'll turn out to be a fun day at home playing games and reading books. Hopefully.

Nice refund, Torpedo! Unfortunately, very much the oppposite for me. :(

Spanish MDs have such tiny wages that we get mostly refunds :palm: I'd love having half the income of an American ENT surgeon. Though in this case I'm afraid universal public free health services wouldn't be possible in this country. Trade offs I guess B)

Good idea Ken, really good idea. Once I manage to solve this position thing, I'll be a lot more free for those travelling things. To begin with, I'll have two extra vacation days to get besides the summer holidays.

Great day so far. I went out to lunch at a local mexican place with another student and three of my business professors. Sharing a margarita pitcher with your teachers at 1 p.m. on a Wednesday = fucking winning at life.

Realized that I might be screwed for graduating over the summer because the graduate director hates my advisor. Oh yay :(

Nice Bryan! As for me, jumped my mom's car earlier - went to the gym - ate lunch out - made an appointment with a hand doctor for my wrist tendinitis and capped off the work day with a flight of rye and bourbon. Feeling quite good right now and definitely looking forward to the NHL Playoffs tonight!

Met for lunch with Carl at Tequila Sunrise for some mexican food and to try some gear. Had some work on my 70 Beetle as well. Overall a very nice day so far.

I paid the first payment on our new backyard office shed. Cedar exterior, white bead board interior, insulated with heat and AC going to be awesome. Should be done in about 2 weeks.

Went to the Apple store -- my older iPod is acting up -- confirmed that it was the hard drive. For $179, I can get a whole new iPod. I'm tempted to do it, because I dropped it enough times that even if I replace the hard drive, doesn't mean something else could go wrong. Opinions?

EDIT: Alternatively, anyone remember that web page, was it this one that most people successfully follow (I.E. have a working iPod at the end of the day)? Also, what hard drive to order? Are any of these going to be okay?

I'm alright with having to keep the iPod in a protective covering to keep it together -- I do that anyway.

While I was there, I finally saw a retina display, but they didn't have any movies so that I could gauge the resolution, and the signal was too weak to get any sort of resolution on YouTube. But it did look good. Maps had Satellite/Terrain/whatever on, so I could get a sense there, but that's not really the same thing as motion. They did have some movies in the camera, but what I really wanted was some demo sequences, like scenes from Cleopatra 2525 or something.
