Which is easier to listen to at a low volume?

Guys, just notice today that my HF-2 emits a buzzing sound when the notes hit a mid note. Like when the piano note hits, the driver buzz. Anyone experience this before ? Is there a way to fix this or should send to Grado for repair ? I hate sending it cause I live in the other part of the world.....but if push comes to shove...... Thanks

Hi all. I am looking at purchasing better headphones to justify purchasing the Bryston DAC, which i purchased to justify purchasing Audioquest Cheetah cables... I currently own 650, 595, 701 and shure 530. My amps are Cayin HA1 and BCL. I am currently loving the K701 with the Cayin amp. I listened to the Shure 530's the other day with BCL amp and came to a realisation that they have superior bass (low and tight) and midrange detail than anything else, whilst the 701 have the top end and uppermidrange detail. Still looking for my perfect DAC......then stumbled to this headphones : Beyer DT48E.......everyone said its perfect for guitar, piano and vocal. And a pretty big part of my collection revolve around this genre (acoustic alchemy, jim brickman, jason mraz, susan wong, diana krall, david benoit, peter white, etc).....Guess what, I pull the trigger...... I wondering if anybody has heard the MS1i. The original ms1 was pretty good, any improvement may make it the best 100 dollar headphone available.

I'd like to try my electret with a different box, but I'm not too familiar with electret transformer boxes. (I'd like to hear whether the box is what limits the bass output.) Is this thre-pin connector common?

A W10Ltd was offered in trade for my RS-1 at the other site. Have not found much info on this phone in the hour or so I looked. I'll research more later. His description "these are the limited edition woodies, released after the original w10vtg. it's a different sounding beast, cleaner and more focused than the vintage. bought them used here in excellent condition with original cardboard box. Wonder if anyone would care to comment on their interpretation of the sound ... especially as it relates to the W5000 or AD2000, or even compared to the RS-1.

I pulled this from the other site. I would surely protect my daughter from all you ortho weirdos, but nonetheless these pretty wood boxes may be of interest to you. A little pricy for a donor frame, maybe, but zebras died to make these headphones, and if anyone can fill them with felt, y'all can.

Is there a list of all headphones that have the HD580/600/650 style connectors? I know it's bass-ackwards, but I kind of wouldn't mind being able to browse said list. I can't seem to find my HD250-II's anywhere, and I think it's the only one I have left of that style. Guys, I may be in the market for some headphones. Knowing next to nothing about what's out there, I could use suggestions. Basically, I own two sets of phones. Etymotic 4p's that I bought in 2001 or 2002, and RS-1's I bought in 2003. I use the ety's when I am on airplanes, and that's about it. They are kind of OK, but the banging cord is too annoying. I love the RS-1's -- enough that I haven't really thought about buying anything else for almost 6 years. But, I need some office phones. I am looking for $200 or less. Hi, I'm looking for some IEM recommendations. My current IEMs (that I really like) are Etymotic ER4S. I really enjoy them for many types of music, but they're not amazing for all types of rock. I think they do Radiohead very well, but Tool, or Children of Bodom? Not so much. So a while back even before I got my amp I was excited to own my new headphones and wanted to show them to a friend of mine. He comes over and puts on a song in my itunes, quickly finds the equalizer, turns the Pre-amp setting in iTunes ALL THE WAY up, takes the headphones off and quickly declares that they suck. Being a nice fellow, I just said ok and shrugged it off. My question to you is where does this kind of ignorance spawn from? Hey all, Sold my pair of QP 85's to Dusty Chalk and the foam on the earpieces is deteriorating. Anyone on here have any experience with them or any of the other MB Quart float style headphones? Any ideas how to disassemble them or what the foam should be replaced with? Thanks in advance, Jay

In many threads concerning electrostats I come cross opinions that "you must get used to the electrostatic sound" and suchlike... Now I'm in a process of exploring my new Omegas. So can anyone explain what are the peculiarities that we must get used to?

I was able to listen to both of them for about 30 minutes and I thought they both sounded good. I think they are both in a similar league of headphone, being the best in each category. They are also around the same price. I guess the HD800 has an advantage of having more amplifiers available to be used with it. Has anybody had to chance to listen to both? What are your impressions as far as detail, being musical, or other preferences? I'm leaning towards the HD800, can anybody convince be that the Stax are better.

Hey yall im new to this forum but i have started to become and audiophile through the years (ever since i started listening to music (im 17 now) and i already own a pair of etymotyc reaserch ER-6i's and i really enjoy them for on the go. but i would like something for home, ive been looking through headphone.com but idk what to get im looking for a nice true bass, crisp mids, decent highs, can be noise cancelling but doesnt have to be. and all under 200$ (250$ okay but pushing it) also i have looked at some desktop/portable amps for my computer and ipod you can give suggestions for this but keep it around 150$(as i do not have a stereo system) any ideas??
