So Oppo are following up the release of their PM1 & PM2 planar's with the 2015 release of the PM3 which is a closed back portable planar with high sensitivity that Oppo claim will run directly from your DAP. I'm not totally sure, but this maybe the first portable planar ever or if not maybe for a long time. TYLL Hertsens has a video interview with a guy from Oppo on his innerfidelity site that you may like to check, but looks like planar manufacturers are really looking to push the envelope with this type of driver technology.

Which is easier to listen to at a low volume?

Hi everyone: I'm thinking of getting a pair of these: Stereo microphones, USB Microphones, Preamplifiers, Digital Recorders, Cables and more at Rock Bottom Prices from The Sound Professionals - Great deals on Microphone, Preamplifier, Digital Recorder, Cable and more! and then using the convolver plugin for Foobar to turn a pair of headphones (say HD650s) into a pair of R10s (if I can get a measurement on a pair). I can sort of do the same thing already with my equalizer but a convolution based method would capture a lot more of the intricacies than my method would. I'm pretty sure everyone has done this at one time. Hung onto a headphone or piece of gear that You want to like, but don't. Mine is a q701 I bought used 12 years ago real cheap. Cheap because it smelled like an ashtray. Pulled it apart and cleaned it well, and did the bass port mod. I don't like the sound. Put it away and then tried it out again when I changed DACs and amps. I still don't like it. I'm trying real hard to make myself get rid of it. It's hard to be a horder.

umm they sound nice but not to the level of blowing my mind, umm and i waited for a month and a half for them? a lil bit disappointing if you ask me...

Hey all, I need some help here if anyone knows anything about Monster Headphones. My puppy got to the chord and im trying to splice it to a line from another high quality headphone i had it working at some point but when i went to go back in for surgery to Solder the lines i couldn't get them working again. Does anyone know the wiring setup ? I've looked online and everyone says different things. I have a Black, White, Green, Yellow and red coming from the headphones and then the line im trying to splice to is Red, White, Black and a wire with no insulation which i assume is the ground. my boss would like a good headphone recommendation. He's looking for a good closed 'phone with velour pads. He has a pair of Beyers that he doesn't like as they are too bass heavy. He also has a HD650, but feels they're bass light and needs something that is closed. He also has a pair of AKG that he likes, but they have pleather pads. He'd be open to retrofitting pads to the AKG, as he likes them. I'm a bit out of my element here, so I figured I'd ask around...
