What are your favorite cans for classical? For me, the HD650 still reigns supreme. I admit, sometimes I do listen to classical on the HP-2, but it does seem to lack the space and bottom end "oomph" that these ears crave on large orchestral works. I have tried, tried, tried so many times with the HD600, but it just doesn't do it for me. I thought the Dynahi might officially "wake them up" for me, but they are just too dry and boring. If the HD600 is a waxy hershey's kiss, the HD650 is a giant gob of dark godiva.

Suggestions for closed headphones Please~? I am looking for "airy*" sounding closed cans to use at work. I have heard the A900, 950LTD and did not quite like'em. I owned the L3K and liked them, but those are somewhat out of budget for this project. W5000 are maybe a possibility (although the last time I heard them was so long ago that my recollection may be completely wrong....). Any other closed cans that should be considered? Hello everyone, Long time since I last posted, but I'm in need of a pair of closed headphones and what a better place to ask around and see how everyone is doing. So I had a son last year and listening to the speaker rig or akg 701 at night with the wife sitting next to me is pretty much impossible. A pair of closed headphones must be bought to maintain the levels of sanity in between diaper changes. Up until about 30 minutes ago, I was set on picking up a pair of Denon AH-D2000 (based on head-fi reviews). But after reading 10+ pages of reasons not to get them I am back at square one. I have never purchased a pair of 'high end' headphones and unfortunately, have no means of demoing them. Therefore I am relying on your opinons and experiences to make up my mind. I do not have an amp but am planning to pick up an ibasso boa when I save up enough cash. I currently have about $300 but would like to set aside about $75 to start an 'amp savings'. dad would like to get a pair of headphones. his office has gotten very noisy so he would like something closed but for him comfort is the top priority. sound quality doesnt even matter. this is what im thinking. I'm looking to get a pair of closed phones for around $100. I prefer full-sized phones and in terms of importance I'd say sound quality #1, isolation #2 and everything else pretty much irrelevant. Two that have caught my eye so far are the Audio Technica ATH-ES7 and the Equation RP-21. Any other suggestions or thoughts on those two?

After listening to 340's for about 30 minutes the top part of my right ear begins to hurt then it becomes unbearable, I also feel the clamp is too strong on my head. I changed the elastics that did not help, I took off the plastic part and just hooked the elastics over the part of plastic used to go over and that did not really work. These have the velour pads and I have a big noggin. I am probably going to try different pads but wondered if any one had any suggestions before going this route or should I just cut the tops of my ears off?

After hearing a lot of buzz, especially on head-fi.org, I've got these from a spam site and they're finally here. I did a lot of testing, including a comparison with the m50, as the title suggests. There's the box. Big and pretty, but dinged up by the nosy and careless customs employees. The headphones come packed with a layer of cloth, which I found a nice touch. The build quality is great. You definitely don't expect something like this for 50 dollars. Sturdy, heavy plastic, no creaking. Pretty comfortable, if a tiny bit too small for my head. What are people's opinions on the best closed headphones, current or past production? I'm assuming that the list is down to the R10, L3k, perhaps CD3k and the Ultrasone Editions. Did I miss anything? I'm finding more and more that the profile of the Etys is interfering with my enjoyment of them. Allow me to explain a bit. I primarily use these headphones for listening while I'm doing yardwork (mowing), riding the motorcycle (at low levels so I can still hear the world) and while reading. The fact that the Etys protrude quite a bit outside my actual ear when properly inserted is causing some discomfort and annoyance. So what I'm wondering is what would be the cheapest route to custom-insert IEMs? The least-expensive commercial product that I've found is the UE-5c's and at $550 they are well beyond what I'm willing to spend. Anyone have any other suggestions?

I know some of you guys are very happy with your UE 10's and 11's, but those are well beyond my budget, and I don't think I'll ever be willing to spend that much. So I've been thinking these days about giving a custom pair of IEMs a shot. I don't know what kind of exposure HC has compared to HF, but I figured I'd ask here first. It sounds so good out of a good amp and source (ppx3-slam nos tubes), but at the same time so good even out of a simple circuit portable. So sweeet with Clapton Unplugged, no harsh treble at all. Having owned a DCA Aeon Noire for a while the DCA Stealth got me interested. I like what Dan is trying to achieve, with the introduction of the Expanse I couldn’t resist the urge to buy another flagship. So I have an Expanse incoming, will be pairing it with a CFA2. I do not like the dicky naming of the products, minor gripe hopefully I’m happy with what the Expanse brings to the table being that I love what the Noire achieves at its price point. Will be updating with impressions when I’m ready, has anybody heard or owned a DCA Stealth or Expanse?

Ok, I hate making decisions, and I hate having broken headphones. There is a bit of a rattle in the right side of my maple Darth Beyers. I'm thinking it is either a driver, a hair, or (doubtful, but maybe) a slight defect in the wooden cup assembly. I have a few options, as the seller has reimbursed me a very reasonable amount to go towards rectifying my problem. Option 1: Buy 1 dt770-250 ohm driver to replace the one, fix it myself (with help) or send it to a DIY guy to do it for me Option 2: Same as above, but send it to larry. Option 3: Send to Larry to redriver both sides with 80 ohm drivers (many people consider these superior). This will be a little $$$ out …
