Headcases Outside? The Horror... The Horror...

I figure there are enough of us with these now that it's probably worth having a thread where we can talk about them without pooping all over an eeepc thread. So far I'm loving mine. I found a good solution to the video transcoding dilemma in the for of the Xilisoft Video converter. I endcoded a couple of videos with it yesterday and it worked great and only takes about 15min. to transcode a 40 minute show which seems perfectly reasonable to me. I haven't decided whether or not to install the 5 App pack from January since I don't really need any of them. I can check my gmail through the web interface and even that is hardly necessary. Bottom line, if Apple can fin…

I didn't get to hear the JH-13 Pros, but the massive hype around these is messing with my head. Would I be crazy to just forget about full-sized phones/amps? Get myself a great source, Pico Slim, and some of these? I have no experience with truly great IEMs, so y'all are gonna have to tell me what's up.

Hey all. I am new to this forum, so please be gentle. I have read nothing but praise for the RWA iMod at head-fi. RWA's other products have received favorable attention elsewhere (e.g. SonicFlare, 6 Moons). So I am all ready to send my iPod to RWA for modding. Then, I spend a few minutes here and I am skeptical. So what's the deal.

So who's going to pick up the first gPhone, T-mobile's G1, for music listening? Seems integrated with Amazons MP3 sales, so hopefully there's bit of an audio focus. Live from T-Mobile's Android event in New York City - Engadget

  6. For anyone interested, I abused a FiiO portable DAC/Headphone amp on my test bench and just published a rather lengthy review on my blog. The bottom line is it's far better made, and performs way better, than you'd expect from a $99 product. It easily shames a lot of more expensive products. The battery sipping TI chip they chose as the headphone amp is the weak link but is still respectable enough for many applications. But it's clearly not an ideal amp for power hungry high impedance cans. Given the surprisingly good performance of the E5 and E7, I'm curious how the $129 FiiO E9 desktop amp performs? It has the cojones for hungry cans (at least on paper) and the …

Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting a flight case to protect my Qualias and I was thinking the Pelican 1200 looked like a great case or some other pelican. They are a lot more reasonable than I thought. Any ideas?

"Three Weeks 'Till iPhone!" OR "Convince Me Otherwise!" An Adventure In Expensive Gadgetry No One Really Needs Our family plan with Verizon ends January 21st, and my dad and mom are switching to Cingular. I'd like to switch over to Cingular as well, since I speak with them on the phone probably more then anyone else. Of course this also presents a great opportunity to buy my first fancy ass phone: the iPhone. I have been staunchly anti-fancy phone my entire life. In fact when I went with my Dad to sign up for our Verizon plan two years ago, I was adamant that the phones we received not have cameras in them. I just wanted a telephone, damn it. But the iPhone…

the design for it is horrible! My ears are still in pain from them pushing on the insides of my ears. Excluding that, its probably the best IEM that I've heard (heard things that I didnt even hear with my 225s) even though it has for the weird sibilance and the fatiguing treble (especially with like rock songs ex. ted leo's stuff) So the question is, what sounds like a ER4P/S with a better design that wont destroy my ears? the im716?

I think I'd want one if my Sony D-EJ2000 went kaput. Has anybody tested one? Cry me an iRiver: http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/couple-nice-improvements-astellkern I'm a little confused at the specs – shouldn't all the players support 64GB micro SD capacities?

So I've pretty much convinced myself to go back down the rabbit hole that is Custom IEMs. My budget, as usual, is somewhat limited so I'm trying to weigh all of my options. Over a year ago I started a similar thread and at the time was pretty much ready to pull the trigger on some Freq product right as they decided to go under. So I tried the Livewires, they sucked without an amp, so I bailed and gave the idea more time to percolate. In addition to the traditional options this time I'm also considering one of the new-to-the-scene remolding/shelling services that have come about in the last 6 months or so. I have a pair of TF10 Pros that would be pretty ideal for this…

I want good headphones for my ipod, but i am getting confused with all this recommendations to get an amp even for IEMs. I don't want an amp, even the ipod is to heavy in my pockets. Please recommend me headphones sounding best directly driven from the ipod. Cheers

Not sure if anyone here cares, but there's a new iPod shuffle out today. iPod shuffle - Apple Store (U.S.) Apparently the controls are in the earbud wires.... so that kind sucks as it locks you into Apple's earbuds. I doubt 3rd party companies will even bother to come up with something that you can use with this iPod. I like the size and form factor though. It would be nice if they kept up the color scheme. I still like my orange shuffle

So yeah, it gets hot enough here after 6 that I really can't wear headphones, and I want something better. But it has to be something I can tote. So far, the best contenders are: something from Logitech/UE from Dinny's recently posted report (PS Yay, Dinny! You're a really good writer.) Tyll's favourite, the UCube Nuforce Cube -- it's biggest plus is that I can get it now at Micro Center. But I'm wary paying US$120 for one speaker, and it's so tiny. Will it work if I get two, and do I want to spend that much? Yamaha PDX-1 -- just 'cause it looks "industrial" Are there any "traditional" 2.0 computer speakers (which are perfectly totable) that can compete wi…

  21. I broke my ipod and didn't want to spend another 250 for a player that I'll probably break again in under a year. I decided to pick up a sansa clip+ from best buy since it was on sale for 40 bucks. I had a 8gb micro sd card sitting around that I could use on it to expand the storage to 12 GB. One of the best features of this player is that it's the only MP3 player that has an expansion slot that integrates both the internal library and the library on the expansion card into one library, or at least the only player that I"m aware of. The audio quality is the same as my old original sansa clip which is the best that I've heard in a contemporary portable. It has an incre…

I go to turn on my Zen Vision:M this morning (at 5am ) for the exciting trainride that is about to ensue.... It freezes at the 'ZEN' screen. I reset it a few times, nothing. :mikey2: :mikey1: :mikey1: :mikey1: It does the same thing. I get to work a few minutes ago, and I reformat. I reset. I fondle. I cry. I swear. I reload firmware. Yatzee. That did it. Thank God, cause I just yesterday I spent a lot of cash on headphones, and don't want to buy an other MP3 player.   FUCKING GET HIM! I've been waiting for awhile now for such player. Hope to get one in December. I know that portable stuffs aren't too popular over here but this is an exciting news for sure.
