Tari
Dave is often my first suggestion for people looking to get into Jazz or experiment with timing. He was productive until the very end of his life, releasing live albums last year at the age of 90. He will be missed. http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/music/chi-dave-brubeck-dead-20121205,0,7126256.column
Voltron
My home town hero is gone! RIP Mr. Brubeck! I just went to his concert last year and he was still great. Not as great, but still great.

tyrion
This does suck. It's amazing he continued to perform as long as he did. I think Time Out was one of the first jazz albums I bought.

mikeymad
Cheers to Dave. My Dad was into him, he saw him several time way back in the day. Got my Dad's records after he passed.. Just happen to be listening to this last night... Always has been one of my go to jazz men... RIP
agile_one
Wow, just wow. Dave made jazz accessible to the mainstream without loosing his cool. I could, and have, listened to his music forever. Saw him early on in his career at Newport Jazz fest and Storyville in Boston way back, then late when he was 80 + yo. All were memorable. RIP, Dave. skullguise
You said it Gene....he was one of my first entries into Jazz, and Take Five will always be one of my favorites. Have enjoyed a lot of his other work, but as the first thing I heard, it stands above. RIP, great man.....
Wmcmanus
Another fan here. Extremely accessible and so talented at keeping things simple and letting the music shine through in the performance. He understood that it wasn't all about him, but in the moods that his music could help to create in the listener's heart and mind. Will have to break out some vinyl tonight in his honor. bhjazz
Any jazz loss is a great loss. And considering Dave and what he did, the loss is even greater. RIP, Dave.
