November 4, 201015 yr I could definitely go for either but I need to know in advance as I will need to bring completely different supplies if we are going to hunt gators.
November 4, 201015 yr I'm with Jeff. If we domgo gator hunting we probably should frog gigging as well. Frog legs would be a nice appetizer before some grilled gator.
November 4, 201015 yr If we go gator hunting all we need is a small dog that likes to swim and a big ass hook.
November 4, 201015 yr I could definitely go for either but I need to know in advance as I will need to bring completely different supplies if we are going to hunt gators. swimmies and a .22?
November 4, 201015 yr What. Like this? Taste Test: deep-fried alligator tail on a stick :: WRAL.com Or some Range Time? At least he liked the fries...
November 5, 201015 yr If we go gator hunting all we need is a small dog that likes to swim and a big ass hook. I do not approve of this statement... meanies.
November 5, 201015 yr Does anyone else love the fact that Jeff has kit for hunting gators? Still waiting to hear if I can get approved for leave those days... will try to find out by tomorrow, since I really want to go ahead and get those tickets before fitz buys the last one. I have a feeling this could be a decent little "meet". Oh, and if I bring a female friend who's a Tampa local out -- Dom, Matt... Fitz (especially)... be nice! **BRENT**
November 5, 201015 yr Does anyone else love the fact that Jeff has kit for hunting gators? There's a reason I'm heading to his place when the zombies come.
November 5, 201015 yr Author A Place For Us ... Finally Just back from Tampa and the final tour of hotel candidates for our little gathering. And the winner is ... drum roll, please ... Marriott Residence Inn - Tampa Westshore/Airport. Here's why: Competitive rates - $99. for 1 br suite, $129 for 2 br suite.WiFi and breakfast included. Two BR Suites will serve as meeting rooms for gear, so no additional meet room required. Two BR Suites will make nice hospitality rooms.Walking distance of: Cigar City Brewing, International Mall, Total Wine & Whole Foods, and many restaurants. One downside is no hotel airport shuttle. The property is adjacent to TIA, however, so cab fare should be no more than a fiver. We should be able to get creative with cab sharing and some of the Florida crew meeting flights. Don't call for reservations yet, I'll post info when they tell me they are ready. I have been assured that there are plenty of rooms blocked off for us. The regular suites have just one bed - king or queen, and a pullout couch in sitting area, so are sharable. The 2 br suites have two separate, private one bed bedrooms and a common living area with full size fridge, full kitchen, good size table and a couch and chairs. It is the availability of the 2 br suites at reasonable cost that swayed me on this property, and I think it will meet our needs nicely. Fire away with any questions, comments, or suggestions. Working up some fun activities for Fri and Sat evenings, so stay tuned.
November 5, 201015 yr There going to be anything going on Monday the 13th? Trying to figure out when to fly out.
November 5, 201015 yr Awesome Gene. I had thought of that hotel but didn't know much about it. Nearly the only hotel on that block that I haven't been around, but that's because they don't have a bar. It's a very new property so not sketchy like the Hilton next door. And of course, walkable to Cigar City. Todd, I'll be back in Tallahassee working on Monday. I wouldn't expect a huge Monday crowd. Edited November 5, 201015 yr by NightWoundsTime
November 5, 201015 yr Awesome Gene. .... I wouldn't expect a huge Monday crowd. Just a dedicated one. Yay for Gene! The folks on trip advisor seem to like the venue, always a good sign.
November 5, 201015 yr And of course, walkable to Cigar City. To correct that understatement, walkable sounds like it's a trek. What Cigar City is to this hotel, is more like stumble-able. So, bravo indeed.
November 5, 201015 yr Not that anyone was waiting for my RSVP but nonetheless the response is with regrets. I will be traveling for work both this month and next and at one point about as far away from Florida as one can be and still be in the US. The only good news is that perhaps I will accrue enough frequent flyer miles to make Mayberry II a real possibility.
November 6, 201015 yr To correct that understatement, walkable sounds like it's a trek. What Cigar City is to this hotel, is more like stumble-able. So, bravo indeed. Wow, being within stumble distance of Cigar City sounds friggin amazing. We're so getting crappyjones hammered. Not that anyone was waiting for my RSVP but nonetheless the response is with regrets. I will be traveling for work both this month and next and at one point about as far away from Florida as one can be and still be in the US. The only good news is that perhaps I will accrue enough frequent flyer miles to make Mayberry II a real possibility. Dang, that's too bad.
