Wild and Crazy Go Nuts!

  1. Started by shellylh,

I would like to move my cable modem and router into the office (one room over from the tv with not much of a wall in between) so to avoid having to use a splitter and remove clutter from the living room. However, most of our tv watching is watching steaming video through netflix or mlb on the ps3. Does anyone have experience wirelessly streaming with the ps3. The router I have is an newish Airport Extreme but I think the ps3 is restricted to wireless g (not 100% sure). I guess I could get an Apple TV for the living room if needed since I stream to those in other rooms and it seems to work well.

Watching 2001 today I noticed a powder blue stuck pixel on my tv for the first time. I've tried every type of method to remove it with no luck. I've tried using a rapid color cycling program, tapping it with a pen cap lightly, and applying light pressure when the tv is off and then turning it on. I'm so OCD that I may just have to burn the tv now and get a new one. Are there any methods that I haven't tried yet that you know of?

Being in the software industry and with most of our customers being developers we don't run into that many stupid customers but man today I think we found a nominee for retard of the year. We recieved an email from a customer that was having problems placing an order on our website, the first thing I do is check the credit card processing log to see if the card was rejected. Low and behold it was but the funny part is that he tried to place the order 14 times with the following in the "card holder name" field: platinum Pplatinum Mastercard Master card platinum

  5. Hey, I think topic is as worthy as any. People just amaze me with the crap they can come up with. I was just browsing Audiogon and ran into this ad: Hms Gran Finale, Top Match with the new For Sale | AudiogoN My favorite bits were: "I am not still sure they use them but I was told that NASA uses/used his power cables." "I will be glad to answer any serious questions and I do have a Associate Degree in Electronics from a local college back in 87'." "May God Bless Our Troops and Their Families and End This War SOON!" Huh? Anyway, I thought it would be fun to have a thread that is dedicated to the stupid shit people write in for sale ads. Hopefully it w…

  6. I use my phone a lot for internet. Opera Mini does a great job at formatting almost all pages and makes it breeze to use. However, it has trouble with HC. HF formats just fine, but i think its because of different forum software. Would it be possible to make thi wonderful place more mobile friendly?

A friend and myself are considering spending next summer in Berkeley, Ca working on mcat prep. The classes are held on the Berkeley campus for 12 weeks starting around may 20th. Could the locals or Cali residents offer any insights on the area, transportation ease, cost of living including rent and food etc? We have options of irvine, San Diego and a couple of other cities but berkeley seems to have the best teachers so I'm looking at that first. The cost of attendance is the same for all locations so I'd like to stick to Berkeley unless the cost of living is absurdly less in other cities. Gross estimates for 3 months would be very helpful in helping us plan how much to s…

postjack's calls: Clinton wins, McCain wins. McCain gets Huckabee as his running mate to court the populist republican/evangelical vote. The Wall Street republicans grudgingly rally behind McCain even though they hate him, because they hate Hillary more. McCain stomps Hilary in the Fall, unless Clinton does end up getting Obama as a running mate. Then we have a competition on our hands, and I have to rework my predictions.

This one will go down in the record books definitely. It is most certainly the most intense tropical cyclone in terms of wind speed EVER recorded due to its estimated 200 MPH SUSTAINED winds. It made landfall in the central portion of the Philippines as it was intensifying to this horrific intensity. That makes this a shoe in for the most intense landfalling tropical cyclone in recorded history. The storm surge because of this and due to topography will be unreal. There have been a few cyclones in the Pacific resembling Haiyan before, but I do no think anything has made landfall ever like this. The news will be horrific, unfortunately. It's hard to find gifts for my dad--he's the kind of guy who kind of has everything. But today he was telling me how much he liked Superman comics when he was a kid. He wanted to know if the comic was still published. I know nothing about comics. Nothing. But I was thinking about putting together a little package of superman comics for him for Christmas. Not collector's item type stuff, just maybe a few cool things. It's the kind of thing he would never get for himself. Now I could use some advice about what to get and perhaps a suggestion where to get it. Again, I don't need any collectibles, just some comics and/or related stuff would make him very happy I think. …

hi there i don't know if it's a taboo question, but was just wondering how come this place isn't ever mentioned on head-fi? am i missing something? is it supposed to be private only (i read some archives and noticed it was invite only at one stage) the reason i ask is that before i read the wikipedia article on headphones (of which this forum is linked, so it mustn't be that private) i had no idea this place existed and it seems like a great place when head-fi's a bit too much. i'd like to continue hanging here so before i get too carried away i just wanted to understand how things roll around here could someone please clarify? thanks, dave

Are there any "tapers" around here? I played in bands for years, also have been in to recording/production of other bands over the years. But still, I find nothing to be nearly as fun as stealthing in to some bar/club otherwise "venue" ... with permission or not (Noah and the Whale's tour manager recently kicked me out of a show) and taping/recording the performance with the only requirement to make it sound like it sounded when I heard it/saw/listened to it. And then publishing it. I write as a trade; I also have made original music as a trade and so intellectual property shit is not an issue; I buy. A hacker tag from my early 80's BBS days comes to mind her…

I couldn't find a thread to post this to, so here's a new thread. So UPS failed to deliver a package yesterday, just before the long Easter weekend - so now I won't get it until Tuesday next week. Bastards. I thought I'd sign up for real time tracking. I'm taken to a page to set up to get this, and find a tick box that says "I confirm that I've been given enough time to read and understand the UPS Technology Agreement" So I thought I'd click the download button to have a look at it. 96 pages. Doing a word count, it is 58,887 words long Which is almost exactly twice the length of the longest Shakespeare play (Hamlet)! That has to be the outer edge of ri…

Hello, First off let me say I'm new around here. I've been reading on Head-fi.org for a while and even registered a week ago, but I've never been able to post on those forums, my posts and PMs dissapear into the ether. So I'm just out of luck there I thought I'd come here and give these forums a try and see if I can actually post here Long time speaker lover, recent addition to the headphone club. The recent addition of a baby to the family has inspired me to change listening habits (no more thumping music when I get home from work, boo!), so going to headphones makes alot of sense. I like it, the hobby feels like new again for me. Currently I have: …

Hey Everyone, I just wanted to thank this community. Head-case has been an incredible wealth of knowledge for me, having guided my foray into high fidelity audio. I joined Head-case in 2008, soon after discovering that head-fi was overwhelming and nearly impossible to garner useful information from. I then spent the next couple of years lurking and reading, eventually leading to several (blind, but somewhat informed) purchases. I've been enjoying music through the same set-up for the past 4 years or so. I haven't been here in a while, but I decided that it was about time to offer my gratitude to the community that built my headphone system - quite literally, as my hea…

Hey everyone, Earl just told me about this new forum this morning and I've spent the last little while reading through the Ruh roh thread, all 22 pages. It's funny, before I was talking to Earl this morning I was thinking about my latest run-in with the mod squad on Head-Fi and thinking someone really needs to start another forum where the good folks can hang out. Boy was I suprised and glad to see someone has done just that and it looks to already be getting a decent amount of traffic from some of the HF regulars. Well done!

So I had to come back to Atlanta to do my transfer to a different store up in VA. Just my laptop and a pr. of senn hd201s. Then here comes the king of all friends...(that would be Purk) Brings me a pair of HD800 and HD650's. Sets up new software on my laptop, brings all cables and a nuforce converter, along with headroom desktop headphone amp/dac and desktop power supply. After 7 months of health issues and not being able to work, getting back in the groove was not easy. Having these tunes to come home to has made so much difference! Thanks just doesn't cover this much trouble and time he's put into this hook up. He's the best

If you want to see more of her, go here, configure a car, and click on "watch your joyride". For extra fun, make sure you select the upgrade climate control, sunroof, satellite radio, and leather seats options. And try both manual and automatic transmissions. Here is an example. Now, that said -- is she the nurse from Sin City? That scene where Hartigan is being beaten up? I think not, but still...
