Is there a list of all headphones that have the HD580/600/650 style connectors? I know it's bass-ackwards, but I kind of wouldn't mind being able to browse said list. I can't seem to find my HD250-II's anywhere, and I think it's the only one I have left of that style. (I ran across it recently, so it's not completely gone, just haven't been able to find it since then.)

I pulled this from the other site. I would surely protect my daughter from all you ortho weirdos, but nonetheless these pretty wood boxes may be of interest to you. A little pricy for a donor frame, maybe, but zebras died to make these headphones, and if anyone can fill them with felt, y'all can.

Hey guys... I'm new around here and am not sure of the protocol for such things, but I'm in need of some advice. I recently sold a pair of ATH-A900 LTD's that I really enjoyed, but just had to get rid of them to help out with rent. Well the time has come to nab another pair as I'm about to lose my sanity if i dont get some good listening time in. So the headphones I've owned (in order): SR-225, ER4-P, DT-770(80ohm), and the ATH-A900LTD's. So where to go from here? I'm still undecided on whether i want open or closed, but I really want something different this go around. I had pre-ordered HF-2's but had to cancel due to the above reason, so thats sad. But my proble…

Hi, I'm looking for some IEM recommendations. My current IEMs (that I really like) are Etymotic ER4S. I really enjoy them for many types of music, but they're not amazing for all types of rock. I think they do Radiohead very well, but Tool, or Children of Bodom? Not so much. Also, I don't really have much of an opportunity anymore to use my full sized set ups (RS-1, HD650, HD595, HD590, AKG K701s), and I'd like some variety. I've had the Shure SE530 before (lost them- fell out of my pocket...), but I didn't actually like them that much. I tried them with the various inserts, but they were never really excellent, imho. What I really like about the ER4S are …

So a while back even before I got my amp I was excited to own my new headphones and wanted to show them to a friend of mine. He comes over and puts on a song in my itunes, quickly finds the equalizer, turns the Pre-amp setting in iTunes ALL THE WAY up, takes the headphones off and quickly declares that they suck. Being a nice fellow, I just said ok and shrugged it off. My question to you is where does this kind of ignorance spawn from? How can someone be so stupid to assess sound quality when iTunes is clearly distorting it. Also he was using a 128kbps quality audio that he gave me, and I told him before hand that the quality will suck. GrRrRRRRRrRRRrRR Console m…

I wondering if anybody has heard the MS1i. The original ms1 was pretty good, any improvement may make it the best 100 dollar headphone available.

Hey all, Sold my pair of QP 85's to Dusty Chalk and the foam on the earpieces is deteriorating. Anyone on here have any experience with them or any of the other MB Quart float style headphones? Any ideas how to disassemble them or what the foam should be replaced with? Thanks in advance, Jay

Hi Guys, I've not touched my ambitious β22 build in ~7-8-months due to lack of time. It's very close to being working, but a fair amount of work to do to complete it. I need some headphones to try out the portion finished so far, I don't have any. I don't want to quickly try it driving speakers as I don't have thermal switches or ε24s built yet. I'd like to be able to test both the balanced and unbalanced amplifier configurations, so easy plug recable would be a bonus. Off the top of my head I can only think of HD 650, which I can get new for

Hi! I am looking to improve my system or just to buy new headphones. Right now i have this setup: Pc to DacMagic connected with USB or Xonar D2 PM connected to DacMAgic with optical/coaxial cable. And DacMagic connected to Darkvoice 336i. Headphones that i use the most are HD650. What i am looking is to upgrade my current setup or just to buy new headphones. I love my HD650. They are great. But i feel that they can improve and that are capable more than in this setup. First thing that i was looking at is new cable for them. Like Stefan AudioArt Equinox cable for them. But stoneaudio doesnt have them in stock and they are told me that they will be in s…

I just got a pair of these. I'm not real familiar with everything that's out there in the sub-$200 range, so I can't comment on the "are they the best $200 closed back phones ever" business. But I think they're pretty good. I was looking for not-too-expensive closed back cans for my portable. Basically, they're right at home there. They do everything pretty well. My RSA Tomahawk drives 'em with ease. They're not over bright (My ears. I'm allergic to bright, so I assume that means they're really not bright. But you never know.) They're nicer across the midrange with a Mogami Mini-Quad cable (said cable being a lot less of a pain in the ass then the coiled one that co…

I think I'm the first consumer to get a pair... sorry NoNoNoNoNoNo! They rushed 1 of my two pairs out in order for me to try and get it reterminated to balanced prior to the meet. It comes in a giant ziplock bag in a functional travel bag. They look pretty much identical to the prototypes but less beat up, a nice Audeze logo with a L on the left side (I believe designating which side is left etc and a very durable looking cable. I believe they consulted a few of our resident cable making experts for tips and used something along the lines of Canare/Belden? cable. Did some tests immediately since I'm still at work and it seems like it leaks as little sound as my…

I brought my Omega 2 setup to my friend's reference system and we did a shootout with the K1000. Source: Naim CD555 and power supply (we used digital mostly because it is easier than vinyl when doing lots of music changing) Preamp: modified EAR 864 Power amps: custom built 300B/ECC99 monoblocks, WE300B Headphone amp: Headamp Blue Hawaii, EH tubes Cables: Kimber Kable, Crystal Cable, Stealth, don't know exact details Headphones: AKG K1000 (11xxx sn), Omega 2 MK1 (both stock) Speakers: Avantgarde Duo 2.1 The Blue Hawaii was run from the loop out of the preamp. The K1000 connected directly to the monoblocks using the extension. These are reference amp…

A few days ago I decided to take the step up to much higher quality Audio. After researching my choices for around 200-300 dollar headphones for about 8 hours I ended up buying the Denon AH-D2000's for about $210 on amazon. My first step into high end audio was the Shure SE530 in ears which were nice, but i ran them over with my rolly chair and broke them :palm: Since then i've had the bose triport headphones and the bose in ear headphones, which have been adequate but very disappointing in terms of bass. I am a basshead so I believe I will thoroughly enjoy the heavy bass of these ahd2k cans. Anyway, when these Denons come sometime this week I would be glad to giv…

I just bought a pair of these from Beach Camera (refurb) and initially I am not too impressed with them. I find them to be bassy and a bit bloated and lacking in midrange definition. Reading the mod thread on HF, it sounds like this mod would do what I think these need, but I was wondering if anyone here had done this mod and what your impressions were with it? Or would I be better off just getting rid of these? I was looking for an inexpensive closed can for home use; I need something that doesn't leak sound to disturb others in the room. I am driving these with a Dynalo, so plenty of power.

Apparently on July 1, Amazon started selling some new AKG phones. I have no idea how new, but I just noticed the ad for it for the first time. I find the 172 and 272 (both closed back) the most interesting myself, but I'm sure Fitz will get them all and tell us how they are.

Hey guys & gals, I'm new hear but found this through Google. So awhile back I had my HD650's directly plugged into the front of my Mac Pro and I pushed my chair back and slightly bent the plug as well as the headphone jack in the Mac Pro. So for about two months, I'd have to jiggle the plug and keep tension on the cord in order to get sound from both drivers. Then about two weeks ago, I couldn't get the right driver to play. So I bought a new adapter to fit in my computer, nothing. So I tried my headphones in my Amp without the adapter, same deal, only the left side working. I've tried other headphones in my computer and they work. So, did I blow a driver someho…
