I've posted this already on another well-known headphone forum, here however I see DIY is more prominent. I'm thinking about bying an used pair of ESP 950s and seriously modding them. I've considered making a totally DIY ESL headphone, but making the headband and enclosures for them is too much for my limited skills. I'm working with another person in starting up a company that offers consulting services to optimize parts and layout production efficiencies, which includes a machine shop of our own. I have a Quattro I and II with different issues, appreciate anybody who has repaired CDP's. I haven't opened these up yet, doing some research first. Quattro I. Has tracking issue. 9 years ago i started tinkering with the idea of a board to upgrade both of my SRD-7 to SRD-7 MkII, and then eventually a lot of stuff in my life went sideways and the project got shelved with a lot of other stuff. It did not work! it kind of worked. I screwed up something in the way the voltage multiplier was hooked up to the extent that there was only 26vac across the zener. I re-drew it yesterday. It's possible that aliexpress 1n4007 diodes were a factor. I'll use uf4007 sourced from mouser for the next revision. I know this shouldn't be hard. I'm kinda dumb for a smart guy. Well over a decade ago I bought up all the spare Sennheiser HE60 parts to assemble new headphones. The first thing to go out of stock was the main housing so to assemble the last pair, I had to adept a HD650 housing to take the HE60 drivers. I'll soon have the need to switch between two different sources and amps and I'm two projects behind even starting my preamp. I want to put together a 2 in 2 out switch. If I use 4P2T switches how should I manage the shield (pin 1)? Or should I use 3P2T2D and not worry? I'm just trying to see if I can get away with 1 deck instead of two?

How would you make your own resistor of any arbitrary value? What natural material works well? I've made my own inductors out of tin foil, then capacitors out of mineral oil, and would like to move on to resistors. Any advice would be grateful.
