  4. I tried to smoke some spare ribs on Friday but my Traeger is still tripping the GFI breaker every time I use it. That time, it started working rather than tripping immediately so I believed I was under way. When a banged up Claire was dropped off by a neighbor after tripping and falling on a trail run, I realized that the Traeger was off and the GFI was tripped. I put the cold ribs back in the fridge. Today was my first chance to attempt to smoke them again and I could not locate a cheater plug to see if taking the ground out of the equation would work. So I decided to get audiophile on this MF. First, I tried an unused Richard Gray Audio Power Pig to see if it could deal with the issue. That seemed to work but after a few minutes the GFI popped. The next level was remembering that I have a Nirvana Audio Analogue Source power cord that does not have a ground connection. I plugged that in to power the Power Pig and viola! No tripping of the GFI. Good thing I never sell any of this shit. Claire ultimately found a cheater plug so I'm going to try that as a much simpler solution. Beyond that, I'm going to figure out why the Traeger has a ground fault when I'm not trying to cook something. :/

  5. Thanks guys. Insanity, from habit I always raise the capacitors off the boards, but because they are horizontally challenged as well, the flat rubber rings (from a plumbers supply) help disperse weight without chance of sagging. nopants, you are right on the money, the top plate design is indeed inspired from my f5x. The front panel also has the bevel on either side which also matches the f5x look.

  6. John knows full well what I think of that build even if it is none of your business. Not everybody gets to print my full name on an amp...

  12. Thanks, guys I ended up snatching a Musical Fidelity M6PRE at a great price. It's not as clean and as soft as the GS-X as a pre-amp, but I liked the result and for what I paid for it it was definitely worth it!

  13. I'm really glad you're enjoying it, @MLA! I've been bounding back and forth between the closed-form filter and the polysinc short filter shown in my settings above. The closed form seems to have better imaging and spatial cues, while I like the transient response of the poly sinc filter. All of them I've tried are good, but those are my usual go-to.

  15. The second season is different but I'm still loving it. I can totally understand that it's not for everyone. But I think that's one of the great things about the way the small screen has grown up. When shows try and please everyone, they naturally drift toward the lowest common denominator. If they stay true to the story/message, folks who aren't interested will eventually drift to shows that speak to them.

  16. Superb. And it has your signature… one could see from far distance that it’s a John William McClean coming, something like Mercedes S Class.

  17. Yeah, I was out and didn't remember the draft until Todd messaged me 5 minutes before it started. I'm not sure if we can redraft but I was at the lakehouse all day and didn't have signal, so just now getting all of these messages. Sorry guys; I had biscuits today. **BRENT**

  32. if you sds xlr breaks down you ship it to me. With a bottle of scotch. Dead output caps are a problem, but rare, usually the power supply does evil things. Can't imagine anyone else stupid enough to touch it.

  33. Wow for a couple of pages here I thought I was back at HF... nice to see Wayne considering taking one for the team!! Given my memory of the Focal Be rooms at HiFi events I am considering selling most of my underused gear to get a pair in November or so or maybe just plug my JH13s into my iPhone and have a beer.

  34. Xavier finishing his first ever Time Trial. He came in last in the junior division, but he was the only kid in Chattanooga to even compete. 7 kids in his age group (9-12) and the other 6 were split evenly between two teams which came from at least 2 hours away, and almost every kid had Zipp 303, 404, or 808s... but one had some deeper-than-808 Reynolds wheels. We went out on a ride with a septuagenarian friend of mine about 2 hours after this pic was taken, and we got in an hour ride. When we were packing up after that ride, he told me "I forgot how much I love riding!" <3 **BRENT**

  37. I've had very few episodes with noisy babies at movie theaters, and the few that did happen usually were quickly ushered out by Mom or Dad. I'm constantly annoyed by folks old enough to know how to act, but lacking any concern for others. I'm not one to sit quietly however, and will call them on their shit.
