Apple Music officially announced that it is bringing lossless music quality options to its entire catalog at no extra cost, starting in June. Apple says lossless quality will be available for more than 75 million tracks in the Apple Music library. It is also launching support for Spatial Audio music with songs authored in Dolby Atmos. Users will be able to listen to select albums with an immersive 3D sound-space on AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max and Beats headphones with a H1 or W1 chip. Apple says thousands of Dolby Atmos songs will go live in June. https://9to5mac.com/2021/05/17/apple-music-announces-it-is-bringing-lossless-audio-to-entire-catalog-at-no-extra-cost-spatial-audio-features/ In related news... A few moments before Apple announced its HiFi plan, Amazon announced that its higher-quality music plan, Amazon Music HD, is now available to Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers at no extra cost. As first reported by Billboard, Amazon Music HD, which previously cost $14.99 a month and $12.99 for Prime Members, is now available to everyone with Amazon Music Unlimited, which costs $9.99 month and $7.99 for Prime members. https://9to5mac.com/2021/05/17/amazon-music-hd-available/5 points

I wasn't aware of this motor as I'm not a Ford guy. Found the following to help get me educated (somewhat...): https://www.motortrend.com/cars/ford/f-150/2021/2021-ford-f-150-powerboost-first-test/ 430hp which is nice but the 570ft lb's of torque is what jumped out at me....that and the 10 speed transmission is what's making it feel so peppy. Very cool. I get it. I've been jaded by boosted vehicles for a long while. I supercharged my 5.7L HEMI within a year of buying it (2009 Challenger manual trans at the time) which made it a whole lot more fun. I pulled the blower on my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk with the Hellcat motor within months of buying it to up the boost with a smaller pulley and running E85 to manage pre-detonation from add'l boost. It's a pig (5718lbs w/ me in it) but it'll run a 10.3X quarter mile and a tick over 185mph in the standing mile despite the awful coefficient of drag. I get liking the mojo... The good thing is if you ever get bored upping the power won't be tough. Hard on a warranty though...ask me how I know...LOL. vroom vroom... HS2 points

“Rumors have indicated that Apple is preparing to launch a new "Hi-Fi" tier of Apple Music involving lossless audio and perhaps a Spatial Audio experience on compatible hardware. An announcement could come as soon as this Tuesday, May 18.” https://www.macrumors.com/2021/05/16/apple-music-about-to-change-forever/2 points

Another week of loss in music and acting. RIP to some greats. Trombonist Curtis Fuller. I'm going to have to spin some Curtis this week. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2021/05/14/arts/music/curtis-fuller-dead.amp.html Pervis Staples of the Staples Singers. Not particularly into the music but a great legacy nonetheless. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2021/05/14/arts/music/pervis-staples-dead.amp.html Actor Norman Lloyd at 106! I think of him from St. Elsewhere but did not know the depth or the incredible duration of his 70+ year Hollywood career or his amazing list of colleagues and associates. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2021/05/11/movies/norman-lloyd-dead.amp.html And don't forget Witchiepoo! HR Pufnstuf actress Billie Hayes. She was scary and creepy in a lovable way when I was a kid. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2021/05/13/arts/television/billie-hayes-witchiepoo-dead.amp.html2 points

I'm cooking what I call Redneck Casserole. 1 box of Stovetop Stuffing, cooked as directed on box, then formed into a pyramid mound in a medium sized pot. Today I'm using pork chops, but chicken thighs also work well. I pre-fry the pork chops for a few minutes to get them browned on both sides, then place the four cops on the sides of the stuffing pyramid. Next open a can of cream of celery soup, mix in a bowl with equal parts milk. Pour soup/sauce all over the pork chops and stuffing and throw it in a preheated 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes, uncovered. Eat. I forgot to take prep pics, but will add finished pic when done.1 point

Saw G-Man's post a minute after my brother emailed an article about how the the 400% rise in lumber prices is putting a damper on surging home building in the Bay Area. If only Stretch had some flat land available on the Rancho...1 point

One thing that differs is that Qobus for some albums have a link to PDF album booklet, which I like. Else I haven’t thought much of differences between them.1 point
-
I'm doing a trial on Qobuz just to see the difference. From Roon they look pretty much the same. Metadata, etc. is identical. You can click on Tidal or Qobuz on the left side menu of Roon and they highlight different songs, but that's the only difference I noticed. PS Also, the catalogs are slightly different1 point

modifications would be required to lower the bias to 200v from 560. it is unknown whether the headphones can take the extra voltage swing of this amp. one version of this amp will definitely be analog input only. lithium batteries suck. get used to it.1 point
