I'll look forward to hearing what was the problem, and the clearly heroic efforts to get everything back and running without any loss of historical data. Awesome.

I'm glad it's back. Life without you guys just wasn't the same.

Very glad it’s back and thank you!

For those that don't know - https://www.datacenterdynamics.com/en/news/generator-fire-brings-down-webnx-data-center-in-utah/

Short version - power outage at the data center, backup generator kicks in and catches fire, fire suppression systemin triggered, lots of damage ensues. HC's server was amongst the most damaged and thankfully, in the end, was able to be repaired allowing for the site to be restored. Thanks to Todd for sticking with us for all these years.

I do not interfere much but missed it very much the downtime was so long I was afraid it was not only the fire.

I missed all of you mucho, and Brent a little bit, but he's down here ATM anyway.

When the site went off-line, I heard about the UTAH datacentre fire and wondered if it was related. Same thing happened with EEVBlog, who suffered the same fate - they were evidently lucky and their bit of the server structure was not too badly pooched and came back in two or three days.

But what a nightmare. Thanks for sticking with it Todd - you are an undoubted hero!

Whew!

What a relief!

Can't tell you how many times I saw something and would have loved to see some comments from you guys.

Looking forward to a boatload of "Bobcat tossing" memes from Knucks,...

Experienced a bit of normal today....met son Andrew and his girlfriend Amy at an outdoor-seating Bertucci's for lunch, and then visited the new (4,000+ sq ft) home of some family - niece on my wife's side, her husband and their slightly new baby.

Was so wonderful to see everyone, and the new house is fucking amazing!

Remember kids, don’t try this at home, my first graduate student at EIU studied the atrazine and glyphosate dynamics in snapping turtles.

I guess the question is, did you think I would lie about that?

I thought your occupation was the same as mine: gear black hole 😜

Took a break from work to empty and scrub clean the kitty litter box. Put it on the patio to dry and when I returned some birds had used it for target practice. 🤦‍♂️

They were sending a message to your cat.

Over in blighty, there has been a ridiculously successful re-introduction of the red kite. This 6 foot wingspan raptor was pretty much extinct here, but is now a familiar sight in our neck of the woods. There are now apparently nearly 5000 breeding pairs. We see them pretty much every day. They are social birds and will hunt and roost in groups.

Because of food pressure (they eat mainly carrion, and odd large insect) they are now almost feral, and will apparently occasionally take a small mammal.

Beware cats! I'm sure the red kite has been responsible for some small cat disappearances.

They are a real masters of the air

Got my new front brake pads put in. Much better; now if I brake hard, that motherfucker will stop in a hurry.

Tax prep all day.  Down to the wire, but basically done at this point.  Currently taking a break and writing a review of KSIA's first studio album.  You know, the one that came out in late 2013.  I've made it a goal to review all of their major releases on Discogs throughout the year.
