  1. Arcada Theater to see The Musical Box, a 70's Genesis recreation band, actually endorsed by Gabriel, Hackett (who has played guitar with them) and Phil Collins. Tonight they are reproducing the Selling England By The Pound. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Especially if you have a Westworld robot to play it for you, in the nude.
  3. Can i own anything for more then a week without pulling it apart? No. No filthy veneer from the Hevea brasiliensis tree allowed in my livingroom! Hope you enjoy the company of your fellow plastic friend! you will soon be replaced by this, sweet, sweet walnut.
  4. They're all playing the same stupid game of the ultra high prices which we can find on any other hobbyist specialized market like watches. Clearaudio has been playing it for the last 20 years, I can't recall a single Clearaudio deck that was a great value for money. Even the affordable entry level models were a POS compared to what you could get from Project, Music Hall, Nottingham, VPI, Michel Engineering or even Rega.
  5. Thanks guys! I have to admit I wasn't really feeling it this morning. Then I saw this thread, and started laughing at Stretch's post. It really did turn my day around!
  6. Yes, but it takes a $200K table to run a high $$$ cart into the label...

  8. Driving back one night I heard these guys on NPR. Grabbed me so hard I didn't want to leave the car. Post-Rock? Rock-Jazz? Who knows. Fairly simple, but oh so right.
  9. No such luck! Happy Birthday Steve!
  10. Some of you have seen this on Facebook, but I wanted to post it here as well. I don't feel like typing up anything different, but I love you guys and wanted to share this. Today marks the 25th anniversary of my dad's death.I remember being picked up from school by my Aunt Nancy and taken home to a sea of cars at the house, but asking where dad's was; it was the only one missing.I remember being told my dad was dead, and I remember the immediate denial in my head, and then looking across at the faces of these people who I KNEW had to be playing some cruel joke onus, but I immediately knew it was true. I remember my dad always wearing dress pants and a button up shirt. I remember him wearing shorts one time, and that's when we were out for a walk on the beach. They were navy blue, and basically a shorter version of the dress pants he wore every other day. I remembered a few minutes ago, as I was about to take off my socks after a long day at work, that Xavier insisted he do it for me. I remember taking off my dad's socks for him after he was relaxing in the recliner in our old house after what was surely a longer day (as superintendent of schools) than I typically have. I remember playing golf and meeting a man and finding out he knew my dad. We talked and he told me that he didn't like him, but he respected him. That encounter really helped to flesh out my idea of my dad not just as my dad, but as a person and a leader in our community; a story that has stuck with me for 20 years. He was a good man, a kind man, a loving husband and father. I still think about him often, and I miss him daily. I wish my brother and I could have had more time with our dad, my aunt more time with her brother, and my mom more time with her soulmate, but alas, we did not. We do, however, have our memories, and as long as I'm able, I'm going to remember, fondly, my dad, Richard Kirk Lawson. -Brent Kirk Lawson
  11. Happy Belated Birthday Wishes Steve.. !! --
  12. man it is nice to have a real music player again.
  13. Happy Birthday Colin! Treat yourself to a decent meal for a change.
  14. DIAF, dumfuk. **BRENT**
  15. Has anyone taken a look at the newest rendition of the Carbon, with the supposed new power supply? That's not the only thing you guys have found wrong with it so I guess no one bothered to continue looking into this amp. Wish I'd read all this before I grabbed mine. I think I'll sell it and buy a mojo - I don't want to damage my headphones with bad gear. Thanks for the insight!
  16. RIP William Myers, aka George The Animal Steele. He was most well-known/visible a little after I stopped watching Wrestling in the late 70's; but he was quite the character, and the dichotomy of his personal life as teacher and coach was pretty amazing. Loved his commercial for IBM.... http://www.espn.com/wwe/story/_/id/18705322/wwe-hall-famer-george-animal-steele-dies-79
  17. Happy birthday, man! Celebrate by setting up that sick new TV!
  18. Test Tone @ Home live right now: http://mixlr.com/illuminator/chat
  19. Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. I am pretty jaded, when it comes to drinking, after all.
  21. Yours is more like a Molotov cocktail than the kind we drink. "Did you put something in this? I feel funny..."
  22. I like mine better. WHOOSH! Oh no, my curtains are on fire!
  23. That's a lot dangerous, he said a little. And yes, that was funny. Do you want to lose an eyebrow?
  24. Set up a third date for tomorrow. Tacos and live music (the best rock band in St. Louis, two years in a row!). Date two was last night. There was PDA; I don't know why I still carry this stupid Palm Pilot.* *Come on, that's funny. That's an easy recipe; ether in a jar, and a lit match.
  25. You're going to have a phenomenal birthday, believe me. We have the best birthdays, don' we folks?
  26. Understatement of the ... well, quite a while, anyway. BTW, apropos of not nothing in particular, I have lately been enjoying the DSP crossfeed feature that Roon put in v1.3. I was never much into that sort of thing. But in the digital domain it doesn't sound all fuzzy to me. Interesting.
  27. Finally got around to cleaning some used vinyl. I ended up going with DIY route, and picked up some chemical nonionic surfactant that was recommended on the library of congress page to make a little home brew solution that ended up working really well. Got a $3 painting edge pad from Home Depot for a wet brush, worked perfectly! Rinsed off in sink using normal faucet water, then did a little bath in distilled water set in a basin, dried off with some microfiber towels, and voila! Nice and quiet and clean on some of grandmas old records and my used vinyl digs. Cleaned about 20 records for about $5 at most of materials.
  28. Way old will have to look at it. If it has the 4pdt relays, those are obsolete board file posted, everyting is the dpdt relays. So you stack 2 for stereo, and use rca to xlr adapters for the unbalanced inputs otherwise it gets stupid complicated
  29. Thanks for the words, guys. A lot of people who knew him saw this on FB and shared some kind words about both the man, and some about the day. I reconnected with a good childhood friend moments ago when he saw that. It's nice to see that someone who has made such a large positive impact on your life has made similar impacts on others. Steve, for some perspective, my dad had just turned 43 when he passed away. I'm sorry that he wasn't the best role model for you, but I'm glad to hear you were able to learn behavior that you wanted to avoid within yourself. I can't recall much negative about my dad, and though I'm sure I was insulated from a bit, I still imagine it was less than most. I think he'd be proud of me, and he'd love his grandkids; I wish he could have met them.
  30. Saw Mary Fahl at a nearby church last night. Incredible show, last time I saw her was 22 years ago when she was with the group October Project. Such a powerful, emotional, unique voice. She sang many of her own or October Project compositions, but she also did a wonderful version of Both Sides Now, an Italian aria, Some Enchanted Evening from South Pacific, and La Vie En Rose. An amazing show, and she told wonderful stories alongside. Got a nice chat and pic after the show.
  31. Saw Crystal Castles tonight. Fucking amazing, best electronic show I've been to. Edith was great, you can tell the differences in style compared to Alice a lot better in person. She's more dissonant, quieter, but still uber confident.
  32. i'll adjust the volume in iTunes
  33. Good point.... "goes off to draw up plans to build a 39k$ amp and then measure it..."
  34. and when was the last time YOU measured a $38k amp?
