Got the news that the initial check from insurance should essentially cover what I lost in terms of out of pocket cost in that car break-in last month, which is a huge relief :)

Outstanding.  What insurance company is that again?

Great news, Peter, and what a relief it must be.  'grats.

Seriously good news!  You are one lucky soul.

Excellent news, Peter!!!

You might consider posting a list of what you lost since some of us might have spares or connections that could help replace things at lower cost.

The main things I'll be replacing are my laptop (though as I have something that works okay for now, I may wait for Sky Lake CPUs to drop), JH13, HM901, and a bunch of hard drives, flash drives, memory cards, cables, batteries, and chargers. I lost my Fuji X-E1 system, but may take a while in seeing how I want to replace that as the camera market is ever changing.

I likely won't replace the two Benchmade knives I lost, as I still have a couple, and the rock climbing gear I may or may not as that is still jumbled in my brain with last year's tradgedy.

Seriously good news! You are one lucky soul.

I suppose, though it's awful hard to believe that from time to time. I'm certainly lucky to have the friends I do though. And that makes the shitty luck at least somewhat easier to deal with.

It was California Casualty.

After a protracted 3-day battle, I managed to best the Government of Taxachusetts (a beast that sits on both sides of Hanlon's Razor) and successfully get health insurance.  Now if anyone needs me, I am going to keel over dead.

Spent all day in my office trying to get rid of papers and other junk so I'll eventually have room to move Tim's papers and junk into my office.   :palm:

My guess is that I have 2-3 more days of work in my office before I can start on Tim's office.  The work never ends...

Went to see this: http://www.londontheatre.co.uk/londontheatre/news/ltg14/boa14583.htm

Tiny central London theatre seats 100, and a stage the size of a living room.  Absolutely awesome to see world class acting that close.

Boa is the nickname of Harriet Walter's character - no idea why they did publicity photos with a snake.

Finished up our taxes with HR Block - paying the IRS enough for a trip to Hawaii...

...for a Family of Five.

I was afraid it would be even worse than that.  We'd saved up for the possibility that we couldn't get the Educational Tax Credit this year or home office deduction, so it wasn't so bad.

Played 3 hours of badminton after a few years of not playing due to shoulder injuries. Felt great until the very last moment when sharp pain shot down my arm. :< Was having so much fun as well :(

Julie got me a fitbit recently and it has been fantastic in keeping track of exercise/food intake/steps taken etc. Really brought to the forefront how sedentary my life had become. A few years ago I weighed 227 at my heaviest and was able to go down to around 190 and man did that feel great. Being able to move faster, play sports better, have more energy and just feeling lighter was great. A few weeks ago I was back up and over 227 at 240lbs. Decided to change that for the better and am down 5 lbs in the last 2 weeks. Likely water weight but have gone to the gym everyday for the past 2 weeks so hoping to make it stick this time.

ps. can anyone move the weight lifting thread out of the casino or send me a dump of it? I don't have access to it anymore. I'd like to go back and follow the same regimen that worked the first time around.

With Pebble Time announced last week, MWC going on this one and the Apple event next week, figured it's time to checkout the state of smartwatches (over activity trackers of which I've turned into a fan). So yesterday setup and played with a LG G watch that was given in December. Hardware certainly bulky (and out of the eight I know who also received one, none wear on a consistent basis), but it'll do to see the status of Android Wear. Will give it a week. Anyone else using an Android Wear watch daily? Grahame, you have a 360, right?
