Who Would Want to Meet These People?!

  1. Started by GlendaleViper,

Just a heads up to my fellow GTA-based migrants, it appears there's been some heavy interest in a meet sometime soon. I have put myself out there as organizer if it ends up going anywhere, but there's no way I'm hosting a room of gangly highschool students unless the usual suspects are interested... As usual, I'm in it for the beer and the conversation, so I'm sure we can get something going. Let me know. Cheers, ~Ryan

Head-Fi/Can Jam @ Rocky Mountain Audio Fest 2009 (CJ@RMAF 2009): It's Official! - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio Awesome news! As if I weren't already excited enough about this year's RMAF, a huge Head-Fi meet to go with it at the same time!!! Hey jp, if there's anything I can do to help out, let me know. And for the uninitiated: http://www.audiofest.net (Oct 2-4 @ Marriott Denver Tech Center & Hilton Garden Inn)

Had Colin (cetoole) over tonight because he was staying in Toronto for a few days. Had a blast at Turtle Jack's (best burgers in Canada bar none) and a good listening session at my place. I have no impressions because I have nothing new to say about my rig. Will post a few pictures and maybe Colin can chime in. Just want to say thanks Colin for showing up and hopefully the rain won't stop you from visiting again! Next time I promise a better stock of whisky too haha. I took Colin on a mini tour of house.. I figure I owe the rest of head-case the same courtesy: The Listening Area:

  4. Started by tyrion,

My wife and daughter will be out of town the weekend of 7/17 - 7/19. I am considering a small meet at the house, sort of like Gene has done. I have bedrooms with beds, one with a air mattress and 3 sleepable couches. I am not sure whether about this but if the interest is there, I might consider it. I have a trial about 10 days later so it may depend on how intense the preparation is for it. I would like to limit the meet to about 10 including room for about 6 in the house. Not expecting any out of towners with CJ just passed and DanJam coming up. You are all welcome but I understand if the usuals are unable to make it.

  5. Started by jp11801,

Cross post just in case peeps here that do not go there want to attend. I'm still hammering out the location but the date is firm. Ok folks I know some of us are still nursing hangovers from CanJam but there seems to be enough excitement left to schedule one of our regular meets. Date Saturday August 8th from 10am to 6pm Place TBD I am speaking with a few places, the Hilton Garden Inn in San Mateo is not available on that date so I am checking with other area hotels

Maybe to help coordinate things: I'll be in on Thurs, but that's just to rest up for Friday, since I'll be leaving my house at 4:30AM. I'll be available to help out with whatever's needed on Friday. I'm typing in who's arriving when as I know. Maybe say if you're in for Friday evening excursions, or are willing to volunteer to help out on any of the days. P = in for Friday party VF = can help on Friday VS = can help on Saturday VSn = can help on Sunday HNIAV = Voltron's preogative boomana: Thurs. 9. So, this is the thread to coordinate our "pre meet" activities. John can tell us when the setup activities should be done, and then we can figure out what we're gonna do afterward. Dinner, drinks, music, whatever. I'd prefer to keep it low key, a chance to get to know all you crazy bastards. PM me if you need my cell #, and I'll have my iphone with me there, so I'll be reachable by AIM as well.

  10. Started by boomana,

I'm only going to be at the meet on Saturday, and as proved true in nearly every meet, you only get to really listen to a few things. Things I don't want to miss: The HeadRoom/Sennheiser room Symth demo - I missed it last year by being either too busy or lazy to wait in line Frank Cooter's creations whatever they may be Ironbut's rig - I just loved it in Mayberry New Shure headphones - just curious 909's rig - I've heard L3000 with that amp, curious about the source jp11801's new toys Since I'm not looking to get anything new this year (so I say now), I'm not going to be tempting myself too much. What's on your lists of must hear?

  11. Started by ingwe,

I realize we're getting close to can-jam; but several locals not attending the big meet wanted this (the last one was held July 5, '08 ). This one will be somewhat closer to city then last couple meets. Trav got us a very nice deal on a big room; he paid out of his pocket. I've talked to him several times over the phone and he seems okay. I just thought I'd pass along info about a meet happening in my area that's coming up pretty soon, in case anyone on here didn't know about it and is itching to try some gear and meet some people. I'm still not 100% sure I can make it but I'm pretty sure I can. 13. I'm doing the name tags for the meet, so if any Head Casers are going, shoot me an e-mail [email protected] with your screen name and real name. Thanks USG

  14. Started by GPH,

For the folks here who don't follow H-F, this is shaping up to be a very nice meet: Montreal meet at the FSI show! The Festival Son & Image is a big hi-fi expo held in Montreal every year that lasts 4 days (3 open to the public). We'd get an occasion this year to have a free booth for headphone enthusiasts sponsored by Sennheiser where we could expose our gear. It's still in preliminary stage of planning and I don't have anything to do with the organization of the meet this time, but it seems like a great occasion to promote the hobby in a speaker environment (and accept how inferior headphones are compared to good speaker setups ).

  15. Started by tyrion,

I'm thinking of having a meet the weekend of March 7, 2009. Location is not determined but likely will be at one of the hotels in the Plantation area. This isn't definite. I will decide whether to go with it after I see how much interest there is. I do not anticipate any vendors in attendance with CJ '09 two or so months later and that it will likely be a small meet.

  16. For anyone that may be interested in attending the meet or hitting me in the back of the head with a shovel, the "official" announcement for the Illinois meet is up on that other site HERE. Feel free to post there, or if more appropriate, here. Thank you for your time. Carry on.

  17. Started by morphsci,

I posted THIS interest check over at the other site. So for those who can't (or won't) post over there, you can post your questions, comments or other gems of wisdom here.

  18. Started by bperboy,

I'm in the early stages of planning for a meet at my school, Rose-Hulman Inst. of Tech. in Terre Haute, Indiana. I've already posted this over on the 'Fi, but I thought it'd be a good idea to get some 'Casers there too! I'm still working on reserving a conference room, but I'd like to know if anyone here is interested, so I can gauge about how many people will show up.

I saw the date over at the other site and have only one question: how much is the per-day parking cost at the Hilton LAX? Cya guys there! Asr, I'm adding the head-casers attending to this first post -- boomana

  20. Started by The Monkey,

Post away with impressions and pics. As usual, for me, it was more about the folks than the gear. But I did accomplish what I set out to do re gear: compare the O2 mk2 to the O2 mk1. Great to see friends old and new.

I am not sure if one wants to keep track of it and maybe even wants to think about joining "the Big One" but here's a link to the thread where we're currently debating...well..certain stuff Netherlands meet - Page 9 - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio It's covering the talk about 2 meets: A Pre-Party-for-the-unpatient-ones somewhere in the beginning of the year and a "CanJam-Ass-Kicker" (not that that is possible ) but it'll most likely be around May-April.

  23. Started by Luminette,

Who wants to do something? I can only take so many people - it's my home. And the more we get, the noisier things are and the less objective anyone can be - and I like to put out impressions from my meets It'd be nice to see some new faces - I know I've got Denver people hiding in the woodwork Rough date for this now will be December 13th - a Saturday. If you have any interest, go ahead and post or PM me and let me know what you've got - it'd be nice if we could setup something reasonable like a mini shoot-out of three solid state amps in the same price range - things of this nature (with any kind of gear). You can get ahold of me via an instant messenger (I'…

  24. Started by Luminette,

Hey guys. I have a mini-meet coming up here that I am hosting at my place on both Nov 1st and Nov 2nd (second day is more an optional ordeal - not sure we'll have enough to make it worth it but I wanted to set aside more time for being objective in reviews and such) I haven't posted about it on Head-Fi because of the obvious, and that I only want so many people in my home. I'd be happy to bring in more HCers It will be in Denver, right off of the i-25 & Yale / i-25 & Hampden exits (sandwiched between the two) If you're interested, just PM me and I'll give you all the details
