So, sorry to the Florida crew, but since I got here first, I thought I would start this thread properly Got here last night at 1130 and had a warm welcome by our host Grawk. Got down to business and broke out the HC Glencairn glasses and toasted to an enjoyable week with some Glenrothes and some Grande Fine Metaxa. The house is beautiful, all the kids and wives have run out to the beach, while me and Dan are on our computers and listening to the Kill Bill soundtrack. Should be a fun week coming up!!

I just thought I'd pass along info about a meet happening in my area that's coming up pretty soon, in case anyone on here didn't know about it and is itching to try some gear and meet some people. I am not yet sure of the rules for posting an activity on this forum, and couldn't find them. But, since I'm old and relatively impervious to verbal abuse, here goes. On Sunday, May 4th from 12N to 5PM, the Audio-Video Club of Atlanta will host a program featuring both portable audio industry representatives and hobbyist demonstrators. Jp and I have decided to host a meet down here. I've posted it at HF as well. We are looking to have a meet, with gear on Saturday. The rest of the time, is up to those who attend. Depending on the turnout, I may try to get a room at the Embassy Suites where CJ '08 took place. Otherwise, the usual place in Plantation we have the meets in the past.

I'm thinking of having a meet the weekend of March 7, 2009. Location is not determined but likely will be at one of the hotels in the Plantation area. This isn't definite. I will decide whether to go with it after I see how much interest there is. I do not anticipate any vendors in attendance with CJ '09 two or so months later and that it will likely be a small meet.

As in the title, just announcing for the beer folks that Cigar City's big yearly release event is March 12th at the brewery. Noon to Midnight, and there will be tons of great beer on tap, as well as food and music.

For the 7th year in a row, I am hosting a spring meet in Bayside NY, on Saturday, March 19th. It would be great if any head-Caser's could come. If you can make it, please post in the thread over at Head-Fi. Brownies and a good time is guaranteed for all. Aaron

Casers, I have long held a dream in my heart that we, as a team, could converge upon some of Europe's storied drinking locations. I'd love to stop by the Abbey in Westvleteren and grab a roadie, get tossed out of a dingy pub in London, or spend a week touring distilleries with you wonderful folks on Islay. I know it's tough to get away for enough time to make a European trip worth it, but I think it would be rewarding. Anyone else interested? Anything in the old world you're all excited to see for yourself?

I was surprised to see today that Axpona is staying in Chicago for another year, this time at the Westin (which is hopefully a hotel upgrade). Last year John, Marc, Mike, and myself had a hell of a weekend in Chicago (see evidence). I would like to continue this tradition if possible since again, it's an international show that's less than 30 min. from my doorstep. Seeing as it looks like I will be moving away from the great state that brought us prohibition, I think it's time to see if there is any interest in a once in a lifetime Oz Fest? Thinking end of October beginning of November or beginning of February. I would normally say (living other places) that the weather might not be that great, but seeing as what there is to do doesn't really change with the weather, those dates are as good as any. Might make outdoors cooking and smoking a bit colder but I think anyone willing to brave coming to Kansas could handle it. Just an interest check to see if anyone would want to attend a meet in Charlottesville, VA. I could rent a mansion in wine country on ~30 acres for less than $200 per night. Events besides headphones/speakers could include getting drunk at a local vineyard, concert (schedules not released yet), Monticello tours, other crap etc. I would think sometime in August or September would be a good time. Local airport: CHO 70 min drive: Richmond (RIC) 2 hour drive Dulles (IAD) --> mass transit is available, but is annoying. Ive attended two of these and to my ears this is the best of the CanJams for listening experience. I was going to go to the show in China but given the current political climate, I think I'll pass this go round. So London is the next best thing for me. Much quieter show than LA or NY, not as social though. Great beer trip 15 minutes walk (Bermondsey beer mile). Any way any takers? First beer on the mile is on me.
