Yesterday morning at the in-laws, our almost blind pug jumped off the bed we slept on, which was higher than he thought, and he landed awkwardly on his face. He cut his lower lip, bled everywhere, and hasn't been the same since; he hardly eats (very unusual for him), and hardly drinks. His normally sad looking face even when he's not sad is REALLY sad now. We figured it was just the pain from the cut on his lip, but when the vet called us back this AM, he said yes it might be that, but it's not unusual to break a jaw that way, too. He suggested moving the lower jaw a bit to see if it's really floppy. When we tried to do this, he screamed bloody murder and freaked out. The vet is coming this afternoon (yes, our vet makes house calls!). Hope it's nothing too serious. :(

That's Ollie on the left. His sister Ginger is on the right.

Sorry to hear that John. Hoping it's something minor.

Got tickets to California. Hooray! I'm going to the concert!

When is it again, Dusty? I think it is right during my trial, but maybe we can link up at some point.

Poor puggle! My brother's pug lived to be a million years old and was basically blind for years, so they can be tougher than they look. I hope Ollie is ok.

Waiting to see if the mechanic can heat up my catalytic converter to remove some rusted bolts for a few hundred bucks.

If not, I get to choose between about 3 grand for all new exhaust or just getting a new car!

I never liked having money anyway.

Sounds like a fun(ish?) DIY project. I'm sure there are other ways to remove rusted bolts than just brute force heating them (which sounds destructive as well).

Big ups to Ollie -- hope he's alright.

May 14th, which is a Saturday. I arrive Thursday evening @ 9:47pm, and leave on Tuesday @ 2:30. Yes, hooking up would be cool, I was going to say something. Hopefully I will be healthy and less of an ass than last time.

Speedy recovery for Ollie!

Damn John, hope Ollie gets better.

Fingers crossed for Ollie!

Thanks for all your support!

Vet says he's 95% sure Ollie's jaw is broken in one, maybe two places. He'll need surgery of some sort, depending on how bad it is. He's taking him overnight to workup his general health and ability to tolerate the surgery. Then best case scenario, which he thinks is the case, is a break in one or two places and he'll wire the bones back together tomorrow, monitor overnight, and home on Wed. Worst case scenario is the mandible is shattered, which he doubts, but then there's nothing to reconnect, and it's either a specialist for $10k or remove the mandible and have an even funnier looking dog. Poor Ollie. Shouldn't have let him up on the bed, I guess. Hindsight is 20/20. :(

Fingers crossed that he's able to fix it cheaply and effectively and Ollie is back to his old self quickly!

Damn John, so sorry for Ollie. I'm hoping the best scenario is the one it ends up being.
