It was end of exams, and I got absolutely pissfaced... vomiting, unconciousness, headache, nausea, etc... I feel absolutely horrible right now... My throat hurts a lot from vomiting... Then again, I didn't have that much: pitcher of vodka and lemonade, gin and tonic, then a vodka and redbull... If it wasn't for a few good friends looking after me... I'd probably be dead by now I was so damn drunk that I managed to give the taxi driver 50 quid for a journey which costs 5.... My parents are going to kill me when they find out I puked all over my mattress, which costs a freakin' 900 quid, plus ruining a down pillow/duvet or two on the way.... I'm in deep shit... How d…

this post will be quite slurrred, just a warning: May the record forever show, that I have beat a marine and a dude with full on Turret's, at a drinking game. It started with a night of rock band, drinking whenever breakes in the music dictated. Then it moved to an episode of top gear, requiring that whenever a blatant britishism came up or a total insult from one cast member to another were to occur, that we had to drink.... I have beat a Marine. Yes, I rule. He is asleep and I am completley fucked. This post has required some kind of record backspace usage to not end up looking like an edwood post. You all should be proud. Seriously. At least one backspace per actua…

Q: Is there any non-dessert food that isn't made better by onion? A: No. Q: Is it ever possible to add too much onion? A: No! specifically I'm a red/purple onion fan, but I thought we'd leave the thread open to the entire onion universe.

Two of the igniters on our stove don't work (they haven't for 6 years) and we either need to replace the stove or get it fixed (before my mom or someone else burns down the house). [Right now, we just light the stove by hand but if you try to do a low simmer on the front burners sometimes they go out and don't relight on their own.] I think the one we have is a Dacor Classic 30" (natural gas). I have no clue how old it is. Does anyone know some brands that are known to be the most reliable (I don't like to fuck around with gas and electricity). We were looking at the Dacor Renaissance 30" but I am wondering if Dacor is so reliable. Some people seem to mention W…

My Anova has shipped. I need a food sealer. Any recommendations? I want to keep the price on the low end, if possible. If I need to spend more, I will. I saw a Food Saver V2244 for $70 on Amazon Prime. Any thoughts? Thanks.

The glass beaker of my current Bodum french press is cracked and leaking. This is the second consecutive beaker that's failed in under a year. Can anybody recommend a small capacity (4 cup or 20 oz. range) french press that will last longer than a year? I would think that having a metal beaker or something similar would be good. Meanwhile, I'll start searching the web.

No, not as a garnish...you know how vodka is fermented potatoes, and wine is fermented grapes, and beer is fermented...uh...barley? I think beer is a family of fermented things, there's rice beer, and barley beer, and wheat beer, and so on...and tequila is fermented agave -- so is there one that's fermented olives? I had a really good olive last night, and I imagine it would be good, but perhaps there's something about it which prevents it from happening (quantity?).

As shown by our "What are you drinking now" thread, there are a fair number of beer drinkers here. So, without stealing that threads thunder, perhaps it would be cool to have a thread where we can compile more in-depth reviews on our favorite (and least favorite) beers. No need for anything fancy or formal. Sure beer advocate and such are good resources, but I like you folks better.

Like the title says, what are you all's favorite snack foods? Or maybe just something that you know you shouldn't eat, but so good you couldn't go without. For me it's petit ecoliers. I think they're the greatest thing ever.

We have every other form of cooking thread, so why not baking? I'll start with today's lunch, leftover from last night's dinner ... Clearly nobody is going to hire me for my crimping (or photography) skills. But they were delicious nevertheless. The crust is a rough puff pastry made with 1/2 whole rye flour. The filling is yellow potatoes, peas, green onions, and chevre.

I'm not sure how many people here have tried this ice cream by dreyers but it's really fucking good. It's vanilla ice cream with caramel swirls, chocolate covered peanuts and tiny little tiney peanut butter cups. Other brands carry it too under different names. It usually has and animal followed the word "tracks". It'll probably blow your ass to high heaven.

Pretty stupid request I know. Apparently my brother is trying to help his friend who is buying a bottle for his wine geek brother. I have no other preference details besides maybe a bordeaux or californian vintage. Not sure why people make these kinds of poorly thought out extravagant gifts. Feel like it's similar to if my brother asked a headphone audiophile what they think is awesome and they say Grado PS1000 and he gets me a Grado PS1000. That being said... that's the gift givers problem not mine I guess. Said I'd ask though so here I am Throw out whatever you'd get if you won 500-600 bucks in a lotto and felt like blowing it on a bottle of wine. Thanks in advan…

so I think I might have fucked up: when I tried to cork the bottle after pouring a glass, I think I might have used a little too much force. Now the cork is kind of stuck there, and I can't pull it out. I would welcome any kind of suggestion.
