I hope everyone in Iceland is safe right now. Let's hope the earthquake isn't the start of something much worse.

This year my wife, Karen, will be running the Chicago marathon as a St. Jude hero again. As the flagship of the Children's Hospital Network, St. Jude is a special charity. Unlike last year however, Karen made a deal with her Facebook friends that if they met a certain monetary goal, she would run the race in a Wonder Woman costume (I was actually pushing for a bikini clad Princess Leia, since I am a man of that age). As can be seen below, they did step up. Additional, race-day photos will be forthcoming. If you would like to donate you can do it HERE

Shelly's cousin Hurricane Harvey is wreaking havoc over the Texas gulf coast. I just wanted to share that we have been in contact with Shel and Steve and both are ok. Steve moved inland and is going to try to get back home today to assess any damage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

First post here, it feels good to be a newbie again. There are many familar names here, I wonder why? Can I start some "What headphones should I buy?" threads? I should go do some scouting and perusing. You can never be too safe, you know, especially if there are fierce lions about.

Sold my one and only bike about a dozen years ago. Getting the itch and have been looking at something to commute on and just have fun street riding. Maybe a weekend trip. Looking for a more upright riding geometry and more sport bike type responsiveness but touring bike comfort. Yea, there is no such thing but considering these bikes: Kawasaki Versys, Suzkui V Strom and a BMW F 800 GT. Haven't been for the all important test ride yet. So many bikes, so many niches. Stopped at two dealers today. Yin and yang. BMW sales person knowledgeable, good listener and had great advice. The Suzuki/Kawasaki sales person the polar opposite. Didn't know squat, ignored…

I love to read and don't mind a challenge but I started reading Proust again and I think he is the most difficult author to read. His sentences are insanely long, often times taking up a long paragraph's worth of space. He also writes with an iron fist. If you're mind wanders for even a bit you'll often times be lost. This is a striking difference between his work and let's say Ulysses where your mind can drift as often as the protagonist's and be on the same page. What author or authors give you trouble?

  10. Hey, before I forget again (Knuckledragger and I had posted awhile back) - we're all gonna start the big downward spiral in a few days. The next several months could be exciting so keep your cameras charged. A bit pissed I never got to hear the JH3A and was kinda looking forward to Apples next MBA, but I'm sure I'll be distracted, what with the gnashing of teeth and all. Evidently Saturdays start date is calculated both on Noahs boating trip (a day is a thousand years) and the letters in the date of JC starting that whole cross thing. And maybe something to do with Mayans. Possibly the return of Two and a Half Men. Anyway, sounds like Harold Camping has really done his ho…

I woke up to this. Pretty cool and mostly harmless since it is situated right between two glaciers which means little to no flooding.

I got an order for some ceramic dildos from some progressive sex toy stores in the northwest. I thought you guys would find it amusing. If they sell I'll be able to afford the HD800's in no time. They can hold a vibrating egg and they have a base that will fit most strap-on harnesses in case any of you are interested. They just came off of the wheel so they haven't been fired yet which I probably won't do until I can figure out some safe and perfectly smooth glazes to put on them.

  17. Not sure if any of you follow weather events for fun, but I bet Hurricane Irene will impact many of you East Coasters. If you are interested in following the event unfold, this link is about as good as it gets: http://www.talkweath...carolina-coast/ Looks like it will grind against the East Coast from N. Carolina to MasNoNoNoNoNoNosetts. It definitely has the potential to cause some serious damage. If you live in NYC, mass transit is expected to completely shut down for possible evacuations. If any of you are expected to feel the effects, stay safe and prepare now.

  18. all of my geekier Internet savvy friends adore it, and the newer comics consistently make the digg front page. I've sat for hours at work sifting through their archives, and nary a chuckle escapes my lips. so I gave up on it.

  19. Every now and then I receive emails where people want free review samples or some stupid shit like that. Now then this gem showed up today: I just like the blatant offer to offer promotion and clearly a glowing review for a measly 45% discount... My reply is below... Kevin told me not to be too harsh... I think it went ok.

  22. I thought twice about posting this here since it became a bit long, but it's something I just wrote in my blog with my thoughts about this issue. I've been thinking about this quite a bit lately, and this text just contains my reflections on the subject. I know you guys are not very much into long texts - as I've learned in my JH13 review -, but I hope I can be excused since this isn't a review and to me it's a rather complex issue, so drying it out would probably make it less successful in expressing what's complex to me. I posted this here in the off-topic since that way, if no one becomes interested, it can simply become lost in oblivion or deleted. Still, if anyone…

So recently, a friend of mine sent an MBTI test my way and I found out my type. Then I asked my close friends and realized that every single one (5/5) are the same type. I was wondering if we have the same bias in this forum. If I were to guess, I'd say it wouldn't be as predominant but there would still be a skew towards the same type. Please don't read up on the test before you take it because I think it would skew your results. Here's the test. http://www.humanmetr...win/jtypes2.asp I am I would expect most people to be
