December 18, 201114 yr Yay Shelly! Found out yesterday that my dad was admitted into the hospital Monday with pneumonia. Not looking good, so guess it's time to head out there... Thanks for all the kind thoughts. They were comforting and helpful. Unfortunately, my father passed away last night, surrounded by my mother and siblings. He was 83. Apparently there was a round of flu through his wing of the nursing home. He had vomited and aspirated into his lungs. They initially thought they had caught it quick enough, but the antibiotics were not effective. By the time I had arrived on Wed., they had taken him off of the antibiotics and were only administering morphine and fluids and trying to keep him comfortable. I know some of you have been through this... it sucks. The last two days are probably the hardest I have had to deal with.
